The film was shot in Montreal. The file includes a cast list and annotated interview type script with Herbert about the production. There are also some reviews.
The file contains letters and other typewritten material relating to The Hotel New Hampshire including documents on letterhead from Warner Hollywood Studios, 1983, including one confirming her engagement, 16 Mar 1983 [early ones are on Woodfall America headed paper] and correspondence between Neil Hartley [Warner] and Herbert regarding her contract, 1983 There is also a copy of a letter from Irving to Richardson warmly praising the film, 13 Dec 1983. There is also some correspondence relating to Heartbreak House [directed by John Dexter and designed for the stage by Herbert] between Herbert and Laurie Evans of International Creative Management [ICM] and Duncan Weldon of Triumph Productions regarding financial matters, 1983. Also relating to Heartbreak House is a letter about who will build the sets, 1 Dec 1982. One of Herbert's letters also metions her having to decline designing The Cherry Orchard due to filming Hotel New Hamshire. There are also a Memorandum concerning a luncheon of the National Theatre Foundation Trustees, 17 April 1984; and a letter to Herbert from Laurence Evans of ICM [International Creative Management], March 16 1984, relating to Herbert's contract at the Metropolitan Opera, New York.
