DescriptionThe Oresteia by Aeschylus was adapted and translated by Tony Harrison, directed by Peter Hall and designed by Herbert at The National Theatre [Olivier Theatre], 1981. It was performed in the amphitheatre at Epidaurus, Greece in 1982 and a film of this was broadcast by Channel 4 in Oct 1987.
The file contains stage plans, set piece items plans [statues and architectural features] and research into Greek design [photocopies of items] together with some sketches of weapons and shoes. Also in the file is a Channel 4 information pack with a copy of Harrison's adaptation, the pack has a booklet on the play, press photographs of the actors in costume, reviews and a press release.
