| Description | Each file is housed in a printed folder featuring the title of the film 'The Whales of August' which Herbert designed for Lindsay Anderson. The first file contains: a synopsis and critical responses to the film; copies of sketches by Herbert; a file marked 'Lillian Gish' [who starred in the film] containing biographical information on the actress; reviews; and text by Peter Travers, probably for a press release. The second file contains: reviews; typed production notes, cast list and other information probably for the press pack; and production photographs with captions probably also for the press pack. Also includes a file of captioned photographs taken on location. The photographs have been stuck onto sheets of paper and were originally kept together in a ringbinder folder. |
