| Description | Magic Bat was a production with Suria St-Denis at Toynbee Hall while Herbert's children were young. The file contains designs for costumes, sets and stage dressing. The costumes are bold, combining bright colours with black and purples. Each costume drawing is annotated with the character and scene number the outfit is for. The stage dressing designs are for statues for example, 0144 it is possible these were to be 'live' statues, the colour palette uses tones of grey, pale blues and white. Design 0156 shows the verso and recto of the statue. The set designs [0156-0159] are annotated with the related scene and location, from the designs it is possible to determine that the sets featured constructed parts that were put together at intervals on the stage to form the complete design.
