The costumes are in a range of colours from jewel blues to whites, with a number of costumes employing clashing colours, and are annotated by character name. Some show characters carrying out tasks for example, 5319 a women carries a water pot on her head. The designs include those for headdresses for example, 5322. Crowds of people are also depicted for example, 5326-9 shows 'Villagers'. The colour ways of the set designs vary, suggesting Herbert was experimenting with colours. The majority however are in bright tones and loose in style. A number are roughly sketched for example, 5314. They feature a palm tree as a central motif.
