The costumes are in blues, purples and brights for the Persian characters and softer pastels, browns and black for the European characters, see 3633 and 3660 respectively. Most are annotated by character name and a few by scene and some include characters holding props for example, 3666 a parasol. 3684 and 3634 are the same design and posture but showing two different extremes of the purple colour palettes [darker and brighter]. There is some evidence of research for example, 3704 headwear. The set of the palace is drawn roughly in 3694-6 using very bright colours. 3710-12 are fabric designs. Some set designs have characters placed in them so the staging is discernable for example, 3639.
