| Description | By David Storey, Director Lindsay Anderson. Premiere, The National Theatre at the Theatre Royal, Brighton, 31 Mar 1980. The file contains costume and set designs. The costumes are in a neutral palette of browns and greys with splashes on colour for example, 2222 a red bow-tie for the men and mainly in a light/pastel colours for the women for example, 2229 pink with the character name noted on each. The main male lead was played by Ralph Richardson [Kitchen] and he is depicted in 2224 complete with hat and cane. The set designs include instructions of a gap to be cut in the background [which was painted on gauze], see 2235-7. All the gauze designs [2235-45] have abstract trees on them with the cut outs shown.
