DescriptionBy Stephen Spender, Director John Dexter. Premiere, Leicester Haymarket Theatre, 9 Sep 1988. The file contains costume designs. The costumes are drawn in two distinct styles for example, the chorus in 1664 is shown in Grecian inspired garments whilst in 1666 they are shown in Western style suits. However, the colours are the same: black, greys; browns; and greens, with splashes of brights such as orange. They are annotated by character name and are mostly in the Grecian style. Some also depict props for example, 1684 sword and shield. Masks [1734-1741] were placed on poles and held by characters, see 1665 which depicts their use. The masks are painted in bold lines and are dramatic in appearance using minimal colour [red] and black lines. 1741 shows the proportions of a mask.
Pen and paint on paper.
In file with Caesar.
