Asylum: a place offering protection and safety; a shelter; protection and immunity from extradition granted by a government to a political refugee from another country.

National Headlines is a series of five new monologues taken directly from interviews with people about current stories hitting the headlines. Each short piece is accompanied by a discussion about the important issues raised. As the project develops, the National’s website will include updates on the themes and writers involved. National Headlines is co-ordinated by Paul Jepson, whose reportage play Life After Life was seen at the National in 2002.
