Description | The files relate to The Labourers of Herakles by Tony Harrison [published in "Plays 3" Faber, London, 1996]. The first file contains the draft play, 11 Aug 1995. The second file contains colour copies and colour originals of on location photographs detailing stage dressing and the site used for the production and a colour print out of a mock-up of the staging area in a landscape [with the stage portions cut out from card]. There are also research items for example, an original drawing by Herbert of a Herakles statuette together with a picture of the original and information on cement mixers; and a postcard to Herbert from Harrison, undated, about Persian plays. The play was designed by Herbert using a chorus of nine cement mixers and was performed on an excavated site intended for the new theatre of the European Cultural Centre of Delphi, Greece, on 23 Aug 1995. Includes book 'Il Teatro Farnese di Parma' by Adriano Cavicchi and Marzio Dall'Acqua Orchestra sinfonica dell'emilia Romagna Arturo Toscanini.
