Description | By Bertolt Brecht [Translator Eric Bentley], Director William 'Bill' Gaskill. Premiere, The National Theatre at The Old Vic, 12 May 1965. The file contains costume and set designs. The costumes are in an autumnal colour palette and annotated by character name. Included are a set of character portraits with notes, 3224-3237. Some drawings show characters with additional props for example, 3261 a spear and 3305-07 is a design for a coin necklace. The set designs are storyboarded, 3245-50; 3294; 3308; 3327; 3338, in sketch format. The colours are similar to those for the costumes. Of note is the design for Mother's wagon [verso and recto 3284-5] which includes dimensions. There are also a number of sketches which appear to be research for example, 3287-91 for costumes and for example, 3334 which appear to be research for cottage exteriors. 3340-3342 are pages of notes on topics such as dwellings and soldiers. Paint and pencil on paper.
