| Description | Of the many bequests listed in the National Theatre's papers as being promised to the Shakespeare Memorial National Theatre it seems that only some were finally obtained. A paper by Kenneth Rae dated 17 April 1973 details thirteen bequests to the SMNT and six to the National Theatre. The most significant of those bequests to the SMNT was the Somerset Maugham Collection on which more details is provided at SMNT/2/3/2. The following busts and heads are in the SMNT collection: 1. marble bust of Bernard Shaw; 2. bust of Henry Irving by Robert Jackson; 3. bust of Harley Granville Barker; 4. bust of Geoffrey Whitworth by Oscar Nemon; 5. bust of Sir Henry Irving as Beckett by Percy Fitzgerald FSA; 6. bust of Lena Ashwell. |
