DescriptionThe file contains 'client' correspondence and enclosures largely sent between Theatre Projects Consultants Ltd and the National Theatre along with meeting minutes, progress reports and 'broadsheets' listing equipment defects found by the National Theatre staff. Subjects covered include the supply of spares; equipment accessories; luminaires; the erection of the false proscenium; site visits by educational groups; the opening of the Lyttelton Theatre; financial reports; moving (from the Old Vic to the South Bank) schedules; problems with sub-contractors Evershed Power-Optics Ltd and Mole-Richardson (Stage & Studio Engineering) Ltd and ex-gratia payments to them; rep lists for the Old Vic; occupation of the National Theatre building; and the standby system. Other correspondents include the South Bank Theatre Board; George Kent Ltd (parent company of Evershed Power-Optics Ltd); EMI; the Department of Education and Science; Denys Lasdun & Partners; Mole Richardson (Stage & Studio Engineering) Ltd; Evershed Power-Optics Ltd; and the National Building Agency (NBA). The original card folder has been disposed of. 'NT 1A (3)' was written on the front, '904/1A the National Theatre File 3 From 1.6.75 Closed' was written on the spine, and '1A' was written on a sticker on the back.
