The costumes are in browns and black, with jewel colours for clerics for example, 3722 and some of the women/courtiers and annotated by character name. Some show characters with props for example, 3744 a candlestick and apple. A few have masks for example, 3754 as part of a ball outfit [see also 3795; 3806 for designs for novelty poles carried at balls and 3799; 3805 for designs for masks]. There are some group pictures for example, 3787. 3781-2 summarise costumes with a drawing and notes. There is evidence of research for example, 3808 into clerical robes and 3886 is a line drawing of Edward VI, 1546 by Hans Holbein The Younger. 3817-3830; 3856-60; 3865-7 is storyboarding. 3841 shows set piece detailing designs. The designs include characters and so the staging is discernable for example, 3837. 3853 has a list of required props alongside the designs. A number of pages have notes on such as, 3868. 3878-81 are designs for signs of the zodiac.
